Alexandrite “Alex” Diamond lives in a world where people are divided by their suit. The Diamonds are the government. The Hearts are the doctors and teachers. The Spades are the military, and the Clubs are the farmers. The most important rule of Alex’s society: you can only intermingle with your suit. However, it is Alex’s favorite rule to break.

Alex, the Jack of the Diamond suit, is heir to the throne, but she doesn’t want it or the marriage that comes along with it. With her country on the brink of war and her coronation approaching, Alex, disguises herself as an advisor and searches for the one person who might be able to save her world– the Joker.
